The Union applauded the federal government for the measures taken to tackle insecurity.

A communique issued at the end of its congress and signed by Ahmed Sani Tsafe urged security agencies working in the state to be more committed to their assigned responsibilities, and appealed to them not to compromise distress calls.

The NUJ also applauded the efforts of Zamfara state government in recruiting 8,500 civilian joint task force to enhance security in the state, but called on the government to closely monitor the activities of CJTF to fine tune their operations.

It also appealed to National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) to consider the provision of additional relief materials to victims of armed banditry in the state considering the magnitude of their plight.

Meanwhile the council enjoined practicing journalists in the state to be factual and accurate in reporting security issues, assuring its determination to conduct a credible and hitch free election of its new executives slated to hold next February.
